4 Summer Workwear Staples You Need To Beat The Heat

Mentally speaking, I flourish in the Summer months. How can anyone really be angry when the sun is shining? In true Summer baby style (my birthday is next month btw), I'm on a solid high as soon as the sun comes out and we have been blessed with consistent sunshine in Britain this Summer.

However, the heat always poses a challenge when it comes to getting ready for work. Much to my disappointment runner shorts and crop tops aren't really office appropriate and between sweaty commutes and air con that never seems to work, it's hard to strike a balance between workplace friendly and cool and comfy.

I've put together a little round up of 4 summer workwear staples help us get through the working week during this glorious British heatwave.

The Midi Dress

I love a midi dress. The length means you never have to worry about flashing anyone - you definitely don't want your boss getting an eyeful - and I think it's such a flattering style. I love layering a midi dress over a crew neck t-shirt. It's a great way to make any low-cut midis office appropriate, plus it adds a really nice high-low vibe to the whole outfit.

A button down shirt

Button downs are life when the weather heats up. They're super easy to pair with various things and the more oversized the more ventilation! I personally prefer to get cotton ones from the men's work section for a truly boxy and oversized fit. Tuck them into a pair of wide-leg trousers, an edgy A-line mini skirt or a flowing midi and you're good to go.

Culottes are a great summer office staple. I particularly love the more tailored variety, but jersey culottes get top marks for comfort. Pair with a button down, a thick strapped cami (like above) or a simple t-shirt for a more casual look.

Wide Leg Trousers

A good wide leg trouser is like the button down shirt of bottoms - airy and easy to throw on! You're covered up enough to deal with temperamental office air-con but they're airy enough to allow for ventilation on your commute. I love the glamour they bring to any outfit and they make a great day-to-night option.

I hope these 4 looks will help you get through the week in style! I'm definitely going to take my own advice and rotate these office friendly looks throughout the summer.
