HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS: MID-YEAR CHECK IN
Can you believe it's the end of May already - we're 6 months in to 2017 - where on earth did that time go? The details of our NYE celebrations may be somewhat forgotten but what about the goals we set ourselves?
New Years Resolutions are a bit like marmite, you either love them or hate them. You're either team 'I set goals whenever I want' or team 'New Year, New Me.' I know it's clichéd but I fall into the latter team. I agree that you can set goals whenever you fancy, but there's just something about New Year that really fills me with hope, brings me clarity of thought and generally inspires me to reflect and perfect.
However, setting those goals or resolutions is only half the battle. Whether you believe in the power of New Year or not, if you make goals but don't check in on your progress or hold yourself accountable those goals become empty promises. So today, I want to challenge you to check in with your goals, take stock and see how you're doing.
Ask yourself the following questions:
Are you happy with where you are right now? What can you tick off? What are you still working on?
Do any of your goals need rescheduling or adjusting? Are they all still relevant?
What steps have you already taken to get closer to achieving those outstanding goals?
What steps do you still need to take? What's stopping you from taking them and how will you overcome that?
I've achieved one of my two major goals already this year (I'll be revealing which one on Friday). I also set myself the goal of travelling more this year. I specifically wanted to visit 3 new places this year. So far this I've been to Canada and have another trip in the pipeline but I also went to Paris and Edinburgh - I think I've done pretty well on the travelling goal. Of my 7 goals that I set at the beginning of the year, 2 are no longer relevant and 2 still need some major work and commitment. Overall, I'm happy with how 2017 is panning out.
Leave me a comment below and let me know what goals you're working on? Are you team 'I set goals whenever' or team 'New Year, New Me'?
