I have this outfit on constant rotation, throwing it on when I don't really know what to wear/I want to be warm but still want to make a statement. I picked this top up from Best in Leeds and immediately fell for the Renaissance art print and gothic script on the back (not pictured) - it was definitely one of those "I have to have it" moments.
As a period that was marked with new discovery and boundary pushing it, This top's Renaissance reference perfectly embodies how I feel around this time of year. I'm not going to go all "New Year, new me" on you - I'm not one for (too many) clichés and I'm not trying to throw away the "old" me - but it's hard not to get swept up in the excitement and sense of anticipation of a New Year. As arbitrary as it is, January 1st signals hope, wishes, dreams, anticipation and novelty.
Looking back on January 1st 2017, I never thought I'd be where I am today. The learning curve has been pretty steep this year and so much has happened, but I'm so proud of all that I've achieved this year. I managed to travel 4 times this year; I had my heart broken and survived; I moved to London, started a full time job; I taught myself philosophical concepts about moral personhood and what it means to be human to achieve a first in my dissertation and I learned basic Portuguese, to name a few. What do I hope for in 2018? Another 365 days of greatness, personal growth, continued strength to define my own journey and to become a woman of many talents and/or areas of knowledge.
